Leveraging Microsoft Fabric for seamless integration

How Microsoft Fabric helped us

Data cleansing and quality assurance became essential components of this ambitious project. We understood that effective data analysis was crucial for taking actionable steps towards growth. After thoroughly evaluating various options and their pros and cons, the choice was clear: Microsoft Fabric was the best option.

This flexible and scalable SaaS solution seamlessly integrates with multiple data sources and handles large data volumes with ease.

Results

Within a mere six months, we successfully connected and unified various systems, which resulted in a singular, comprehensive view of customers, consultants, projects and processes.

In-House talent AI agent

We built an in-house AI agent for our capacity team that uses Microsoft Fabric’s data lake to reduce delivery time for first-time viable candidates by up to 50%.

Solution

We developed an AI agent integrated into our internal system. This AI agent uses natural language processing (NLP) to analyze job descriptions, extract key requirements, and query our database. Through a sophisticated ranking heuristic, it evaluates and ranks potential candidates based on role alignment.

The results include a detailed breakdown of each candidate's strengths and weaknesses, offering immediate value to our recruiters by enabling faster, more informed decision-making.

How Microsoft Fabric helped us

We collaborated with Microsoft’s AI Co-Innovation Labs for an intensive one-week in-person engagement, resulting in a powerful proof-of-concept solution utilizing Azure Open AI, Azure AI Search, and Azure Document Intelligence to implement intelligent search capabilities on our data modeled in Microsoft Fabric.

By leveraging Azure Open AI and other Azure services integrated with Microsoft Fabric, our system now analyzes job descriptions and matches them with ideal candidates from our OneLake curriculum database. This solution efficiently processes thousands of resumes, ranking candidates based on their fit for job criteria and providing insights into their strengths and weaknesses for the intended role.

Through an iterative development process shaped by real-world feedback from our capacity team, we created a solution that addresses our biggest challenges: time-to-hire and match quality. This innovation transformed a previously time-consuming, manual process into a streamlined, AI-driven workflow, significantly enhancing our recruitment efficiency and effectiveness.

Microsoft Fabric FAQs

Why migrate from Power BI Premium to Microsoft Fabric?

In March 2024, Microsoft announced that the Power BI Premium per capacity SKUs (P-SKU) will be retired. While the change doesn’t require immediate action, after January 1, 2025, Power BI Premium per capacity customers should work with their Microsoft account representative to transition to a suitable Fabric capacity and pricing plan for their next renewal.

This raises exciting new opportunities, but it also introduces some challenges.

Fabric contains tools and functionalities that let you construct more powerful and complete solutions than before with Power BI Premium. At the same time, this usage could signify more CU consumption, causing the need for bigger F-SKU tiers. Storage and network usage are now also part of the equation in Fabric too. For this reason, governance and resource usage monitoring is more relevant now than ever. Complex ETL optimization is now paramount to keep your CU consumption under control.

If you already have a Premium SKU, we suggest you start planning the best way to transition your current workspaces to your new Fabric capacity, along with how and when to do it. Also, if you are using specific features like Power BI Report Server, consider how this transition will affect you.

Is Microsoft Fabric part of Azure?

Microsoft Fabric is part of and built on Azure, but it's presented as a distinct, unified SaaS offering.

While Fabric is powered by and integrated with Azure, it's presented as a separate, unified SaaS product. It's not simply a rebranding of existing Azure services; it's a distinct offering built on top of Azure, providing a more streamlined and user-friendly experience for data and analytics. It is an Azure service, in that it's offered through the Azure platform and uses Azure billing, but it's a specific type of Azure service—a comprehensive, unified analytics platform.

Think of Azure as a large hardware store with all the tools and materials you could need to build a house —individual services like Synapse, Data Factory, etc. Microsoft Fabric is like a pre-designed house kit, built using those tools and materials, but providing a much simpler, more integrated building experience. You still benefit from the quality of the underlying components (Azure), but you don't have to assemble everything from scratch.

Let's work together to unlock your data potential
